QuestionI have no power to my microwave but when I unplugged it and plugged into another outlet it powered on. Are microwaves attached to a gfi switch or is the outlet bad?

- Answer Hi Scott - Thanks for reaching out to us regarding your microwave. We are happy help. We suggest to check the outlet for power by plugging in another small appliance, lamp, etc. Sometimes a breaker in your home's breaker box will trip. If this happens there will appear to be no power to the appliance. Reset the home breaker by turning it off, then back on again (GFCI or GFI (ground fault circuit interrupt) devices detect any current or voltage that may "leak" to the ground and interrupts the flow of electricity. These are usually installed as wall outlets with a Reset and Test button. Most appliances have some current leakage to ground, but do not typically trip the outlet. QuestionI need to replace a GE JEM31L004, the cabinet depth is 12.7" and I can trim it a little deeper- are there vents out the back of the PEM31SFSS or just the front and sides? I will be using a trim kit.

- Answer Hi Teach - The light will come on when the door is open and during operation. The control panel is not backlit. - Answer Hi AngelaB. The only microwave I could find that was the same size was the GE. I went to Best Buy with all my measurements and we looked at everything and there was not another manufacturer or model.

- Answer I have the same reaction as you do. Mine don't light up either and it is impossible to see the buttons in a dim light. What a disappointment. I would have returned it except we have custom cabinets in the kitchen and this was supposed to be a direct replacement for the older model. However, the overall size is different by 1/4 inch and the screw holes for hanging are a different pattern, requiring new drill holes in the cabinet. Overall, the unit feels cheap, is much more expensive than others and I am less than impressed by it (including the non-light issue). Wish I could have had better news.......

QuestionI am looking for a replacement for GE JEM25 microwave that can hold a full size plate. Dimensions of the cut out cabinet are 11 1/4 x 24x 11 1/4.

- Answer I have exactly the same cut out cabinet snd exactly that’s model JEM25. Mine is a white one, and the rotating plate inside measures 11 1/4. It’s perfect but the top inside of the microwave is flaking and I heard I have to replace it. However I can only find lower wattage microwaves in black and I love my white higher wattage one!!!!

- Answer Yes. I don't know where your 18 inches came from : This shallow microwave is only about 13.5 inches front to back, including the plug, which I have plugged into a standard receptacle on the wall at the back of the cabinet. I am NOT using the "trim kit" so cannot comment on that, but this thing fits my 13 inch deep cabinet shelf and only sticks out a half inch.

- Answer Hi GAILM- If installed in a cabinet, it is compatible with GE® Optional 27" Built-In Trim Kit JX827SFSS and Optional 30" Built-In Trim Kit JX830SFSS. 18" Minimum cabinet depth with receptacle in cabinet; 16" minimum cabinet depth with receptacle outside cabinet. We suggest to view the Quick Specs for cabinet cutout dimensions: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=PEM31SF_EF_BM_FM_R2_17.pdf - If it is placed on the counter, be certain to place the front surface of the door 3 inches or more back from the counter top edge to avoid accidental tipping of the appliance in normal usage. Recommended clearances: 3 inches on each side, 3 inches on the top, and 1 inch in the rear. If located on the counter near a range, we recommend locating it at least 2 ft. away.
