Hello Michelle - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we are happy to help you. Yes, the PEM31SFSS is the replacement for the PEM31SMSS. While the cutout requirement is the same, the trim kits are not interchangeable so you will need to purchase a new trim kit. We hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!
