Yes, you can stream from almost all media applications. You should see a 'cast' icon on the application when it is running. Just tap that and tell it where to cast to (your chromecast) and it works. I do that now and then to play my music from my phone.

If you want a free app i recommend Localcast. it has ads but they arent bad and its easy to find the music on your phone. once you got your music queue\playlist set it its simple. Click your chromecast device or group, then click play on Localcasst
