“VGA or HDMI port? My TV does not have a USB port, but is HD and has VGA and HDMI ports (which we use to play Netflicks through a laptop). Can I use Chromecast if I get a converter cable, eg. USB-to-HDMI?”

I've found that the USB plug for the chromecast was only for power. I use the power block that accompanies the chromecast and plug it into an outlet or power strip.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The Chromecast is not USB. It is HDMI. Since the HDMI specification does not provide power like USB can, you will have to use the included power cord and wall adapter that comes with the Chromecast.

When you download the Chromecast app a new icon gets added to Netflix (and hulu, youtube, etc). You pick your video on your computer then click the new icon and it asks "Cast to" with a list. I have Tivos in the house so they show up also. Pick the device and it just starts playing there. If you are watching a series like Jerico or Marco Polo it works just like on the laptop. When one episode is done it shows the name of the next one and a 30 second count down until it the starts.
