What type of tablet do you have? If it is an android tablet, you should be able to use the Cast Screen feature to beam your android screen directly to your television. I think this feature may still be in beta testing however, so it might be worthwhile to give a shout-out to customer support if you still run in to problems with it.....

i noticed some older phones are just not compatible the internet chipset just isnt fast enough for the mass sending of information back and forth

As long as you download the app you should have no issues. I run mine of both my phone and tablet

Are you using an Android tablet? If yes, newer OS version has cast screen beta option.

Try to mirror your screen in the settings of the tablet while you are connected to chromecast.

You would have to be connected to the same wifi address! After initial set up make sure that Chromecast is connected to the same address! That's how the devices communicate!

I don't own a tablet but it might be the app not being supporting casting. You might want to look up apps supported by chromecast.

Through the Google Chrome app there is a way to open up a full screen stream to the TV. It works on my Galaxy tablet and my wife's I-pad.

Not sure you can do it. You'd need an app specifically design to use Chromecast. I could be wrong, but I don;t think google docs works with Chromecast. If your tablet is a Surface, you'd be better off returning the Chromecast and purchasing the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter.
