I frequently play youtube videos, just for the music soundtrack and route it through a Yamaha receiver. I haven't been able to play music on my Samsung through the chromecast, but it appears if you have music purchased from Google play, then you can play those tracks through the chromecast by using the Google play music app.

As a result I can also launch Netflix on my smartphone and play home theater surround sound movies that way was well.

Please try again later.yes, you need to install the Google Play Music app.and click on the chromecast icon which will play the music through your reciver. both need to be connected on the same home network. if your receiver has bluetooth, you can also play music by connecting your phone through the receiver's bluetooth connection.
