Q: QuestionWhat nest is compatible with Hybrid Heat pump Electric with gas back up ???

• A:Answer It should be. If you check how your heat pump is wired into your home, and there is only one direction (electric) to "turn it on or off", you should be okay. However, if you have a system that triggers the gas separate from the electric (a pseudo by pass system?) it may not. You need the singular electrical to carry into a Nest.

Q: QuestionUsing my Nest on manual basis. I have temp at 71 all day which is maintained without problem. Around 8:00pm the color turns orange and says it is 68 with 11/2 hr to71 but never comes on to heat. Get up in morning around 6 is 62 and says 11/2 hr to 71. Why

• A:Answer This sound like a battery issue (common for these). #1 - do you have 5 wires hooked up or 4 (C wire or no)? #2 - if your heat (assuming based on context) is constantly running to keep up with your request to hit 71, you are not getting power to the Nest. It is all being used by your furnace. Potential solutions - get a pro to add a C wire, use a C wire adaptor (produced by Google), or allow your Nest to come down from 71 naturally for a couple hours while you charge it, then remount it when you go to bed to kick heat back on say an hour or two before you wake up.

• A:Answer Open Settings, select Equipment, select Continue on the Wiring diagram, select Continue on the equipment list, select Heat Source ....this will give you all the options you can change

Q: QuestionGoogle - Nest Learning Gen 3. When heating is on the first 1-2min does not give heated air and after that gives heated air. Wires are correctly connected, any thought? Airwave is off.

• A:Answer Be patient... your furnace /boiler is a multi part system. Basically your fan is "starting up" and then your heat source is being allowed to add heat.

Q: QuestionI’ve installed 2 wifi nest thermostat successfully. I’m installing a 3rd and it only shows heat and eco mode…no cool. Does nest offer only heat thermostats? I checked the box and it says both heat and cool. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

• A:Answer Wiring setup would be a helpful picture here....it could be that your AC is not being recognized and therefore Nest giving you the cool mode.

• A:Answer Can you hear your furnace go on? The furnace actually powers the Nest battery. Check the power. Also be sure Nest doesn’t think you are not home, which will happen if you don’t walk by it often and it is set to turn off when not home

• A:Answer The activity sensor on these are very finicky. Recommendation, always tap the thermostat if you want to interact with it. It should run even if it does not think you are standing in front of it.
