- Answer It will operate without the c wire, but eventually the faceplate will need to be recharged. The c wire will keep a constant to the unit so that you will never have to recharge the face plate

QuestionI know that my nest is compatible with my dual source heat (Heat pump and Electric Furnace). Can I tell the nest to go to elec. heat and not use the heat p. when I want to? Currently I go to elec heat when the temp gets 0 so the heat p. doesn't run 24/7.

- Answer I just had 2 geek crews over to install this Nest thermostat in my manufacture home. My unit 26 years old, I did not have a C wire to power my current Honeywell thermostat. Batteries power my current Honeywell. For this reason, my airhandler/ heat pump not compatible with Nest. It needs to be powered by a live wire controlled by a breaker vs. AA batteries.

QuestionCan I simply TURN OFF the thermostadt once the room is to my liking warmthwise, instead of setting it to a lower temp and having the fan blow cooler???

- Answer Do not set your Nest Thermostat to "Heat & Cool" setting. If you set it to Heat and then set the temperature to say, 70 degrees, the system will not run until it sense the temperature in the house has fallen to the set temp, then will kick on the furnace again.

- Answer You probably meant to ask ‘will this be a problem’. No problem at all. You can connect with your phone at a later time. Just go to the config setting on the Nest whenever you are ready.

QuestionIs there a way for the Nest to automatically adjust humidity settings based on outdoor temperature? When the outside temperature drops by more than 10 degrees, the relative humidity setting should drop too. The Ecobee can do this.

QuestionRecently the AC started to stop cooling after 2-3 hours. I turn it off from my nest app on my cell phone for a few minutes and turn it back on so it will start cooling again. It keeps happening. I had not had any issues for almost a year. What to do?

- Answer It could be preheating? I know my livingroom thermostat is set to get to a particular temperature by 9:00 a.m. The thermostat knows about how long it will take to get to that temperature, so it will start earlier, to get it to temp on time. Mine usually comes on almost an hour before, to get to temperature by 9:00

QuestionCan you set limits to keep people from putting the temps ultra low or high? I work at home a lot of days, but I also travel...if it’s learning to accommodate me what happens when I travel and my family works normal hours I.e., 9-5. How will it know?

- Answer The learning setting takes place right after you install. My routine is irregular so this wasn’t very helpful. But you can set a daily schedule of when you’d like it turned on and off as well as set the temp at each interval. Super easy to do. You can also override the system by the app if you are away from home as well.
