• Absolutely. My existing smoke alarm system is hardwired. I installed 2 battery operated NEST alarms. I could have substituted a hardwired for one of my existing hardwired alarms.

• Don’t know for sure, but I’d bet a dollar to a penny that they would because they they both use your WiFi to link up and work with the same NEST app.

• You can have both wired and battery powered Nest Protects set up on the same Nest account in the same home and they will all be able to communicate with each other through the wireless interconnect.
