“I see in the pictures that the nest protect is mounted on the wall. Is mounting on the wall acceptable? Where is not a acceptable place to install Nest Protect? I am thinking about installing it behind my flat screen tv that is about 6 feet high.”

• We recommend placing your Nest Protect on the ceiling to monitor both smoke and carbon monoxide levels. If you’re installing on the wall, make sure Nest Protect is within 12 inches (30.5 cm) of the ceiling. • You can mount on the wall, but it has to be within a foot or so of the ceiling. I wouldn't recommend putting it behind anything, as it has motion and other sensors built in that might not like that
