It uses an advanced smoke sensor that we called Split-Spectrum Sensor, to detect a wide range of smoke events, including slow, smoldering fires and fast flaming fires. Nest Protect has been tested and was certified to use in many parts of US, Canada, UK and Australia. However, we still recommend contacting your local fire department to ensure the requirements for smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in your area.
