“I have always had iPhone and have gotten dependent on using share my location so I can always know where my kids are. After seeing commercials for the pixel, I’m intrigued with the camera options. Is there any function that is similar for location?”

Yes, you can have individual users share their location with you in Google Maps. You can also use Google Family Link.
