It plugs into wall or possibly usb and you can turn on and off with the little control box on the powerstrip with 2 other buttons that change mode and color but app offers much more convenient and precise control

You would want to use the app that’s why this is the Wi-Fi version. Really easy to sync up and start using on your app. If you do not like apps, I believe Govee has a kit that is not a smart light kit, which would have a remote that you could use.
