It seems stable enough if you're careful. Two of the casters are lockable, but the instructions weren't clear, and I first put them on opposite corners, not knowing that fact. When I discovered the problem, I moved them to the front of the base and unlocked them. Rolls OK on hard floor. Haven't tried it on carpet.
