“If I plug into the headphone jack it will mute the sound that goes to the TV speakers. So If I get a soundbar, would like to be able to get sound from the soundbar AND the headset at the same time. What would be a decent low price switch box for this?”

Yes, using the headphone jack will mute the internal speakers. Yes, you can use the audio outputs to make use of both speaker sets.
