Yes, the google mini can attached to a wifi field that is created by a hotspot. It seems a bit out of the ordinary to great a hotspot for this purpose as the Google Mini is best used as a constantly operating unit

Good Question! First I have not done this, but I would certainly believe that google will work as long as it can access the internet, which is what your hotspot will do. Now for the DOWNSIDE, hotspots do not necessary stay up 24x7. So you will need to make sure your hotspot is on when using your Google. And if I am wrong... sorry.
