A:Answer It's rated up to 550W, 120V, 60Hz. I confirmed this with my electric usage monitor; it generally stayed around 460W for me. I believe the heating unit turns on intermittently because I noticed several times when it was down to drawing only a few watts and a fraction of an amp. I'd imagine this depends on the initial temperature of the water when you turn the unit on. In the one usage I recorded I started with water ~105F and it drew a total of 0.045 kWh in about 16 minutes of use (or very roughly 31% of the power it would have drawn if it had run at the full 550W the whole time).
I think Jefesitachica had a defective unit (perhaps running constantly at full power) or poured water into the unit that was initially too hot. In my experience starting off with water that is 105F it was only a max of about 110F after 20 minutes.
