“My current thermostat a Carrier TP-PRH-A is 2 wire thermostat. I recently had a return an Ecobee thermostat I purchased because my HVAC person said it wasn't compatible. Is this thermostat compatible with a 2-wire installation I currently have?”

Opie says: Yes, it works with a two wire system but you will have to run two more wires to the backplate from an external transformer (Amazon sells them for about $15). The instructions with the T9 show how to wire this 2 wire plus power setup. The backplate even has a special switch you manually set for this 2 wire system. This is not using the "C" wire adapter device, which is not useful for two wire system. See instructions.

As long as you have a G wire and a Y wire coming from the thermostat control board, it should work. The adapter will convert the wires from G and Y to C and K, which is what this thermostat needs to work.
