The dirt canister is very difficult to remove and difficult to replace securely. It'll look like it is seated properly but then will pop out when vacuuming in the upright position and almost always if you touch the top while vacuuming under beds and low tables. The latch is also very, very difficult to open and we broke ours today trying to open the latch. We're past the return date so lost a lot of money on this shoddy vacuum.

Then I did the following and worked perfectly. Hold by top of dust canister and hold over trash can. Push the button and the bottom falls open if not damaged in carton.
