Yes, it is more ink. I generally get more than twice as many copies with the XL cartridges than I do with the standard (no XL) cartridge. You also save money buying the XL type. Plus you don't have to change them out near as often. It's the only ones I ever buy since I first learned about them years ago.

The XL after either the 950 or 951 means you get more print pages. You probably get double the amount of print pages from an XL inkjet.
