“my current printer (not hp), after set up, sat unused for 6 mos, and when i tried to print something, it was out of ink! my error, right? no! more ink, ~6 mos again: same thing! the ink is *used* when not in use! i print infrequently--will this hp be ok?!”

• The ink expires/dries up when not in use for an extended period of time. If you want to avoid this, consider a laser printer.

• I may print once a month, usually less. I'm still using the original ink that came with it almost a year later, with no problems at all.

• Unused ink dries up and will need to be replaced in most lower end inkjet printers. Best Not to buy the larger capacity cartridges if you don’t use ink quickly.
