The HP printer blinking orange light error code indicates that the printer is not able to communicate with the computer. This can be due to a number of reasons, including a loose or damaged cable, a problem with the printer's drivers, or a conflict with another piece of hardware or software.

This will reset it and sometimes that’s all it needs. If the error code continues, it will depend where the light is coming from and how it’s flashing. Per hp’s site, here are different scenarios: Light bar pulses blue and flashes amber This occurs when the printer loses the Wi-Fi connection or there is a connection error during setup. Light blue pulses blue and flashes amber If this happens during first-time setup, press and hold the Wireless button on the back of the printer for five seconds to reset the wireless connection. Then, set the printer up again. Light bar glows purple at outside edges and flashes amber in the center This occurs when the printer experiences an error while connecting with Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS). Light bar glows purple at outside edges and flashes amber at the center Press and hold the Wireless button on the back of the printer for five seconds to reset the wireless connection, and then set it up with WPS again. Pressing the Wireless button on the back of the printer For more information, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app). Light bar glows amber The light bar glows amber when there is a printing error. Look at the other lights on the printer to find and resolve the error you are experiencing. Light bar glows amber Paper tray light blinks Cartridge access door light blinks, ink cartridge light is on, Cancel and Resume buttons are on This occurs when a counterfeit or previously used cartridge is installed or the cartridge is low. Press the Cancel button to cancel the print job, and then look for any obstructions in the carriage path. Go to Carriage jam or E3 error for more information. Light bar blinks amber fast The light bar flashes amber and the printer LEDs blink fast. This occurs when there is a serious printer error. Light bar blinks amber fast With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the printer. Unplug the power cord from the power source. Wait 60 seconds.
