• You have the option to choosse black or color. If making copies on the screen you can choose either or to print.

• Great question, Lola! This particular printer has a feature called "Single Cartridge Mode" which allows you to operate the printer with only one cartridge (in your case, black). It will automatically be activated when there is only one cartridge installed, and will be deactivated when both cartridges are installed.
