“Does this printer require a pc or laptop for setup? I think one of the reviews stated that it does. That you have to use a usb cable. I only have smartphones and older iPads. Thanks”

Apple or PC works with this printer. I have iPhone & Macbook both set up easy... just have to download the app. You can check the HP website containing the printer info; Which may give you further information on whether if it is compatible. Or you can look on App Store (for Apple products) to see which ones are supported. Not sure about PC but it is an HP product, so it should be compatible with PC. Bluetooth & WiFi are important for setup. I used my phone as a hotspot though, I don’t have WiFi but was able to setup just fine. Hope this helps!
