No they were not subscription based. You have option to sign up but it is not required.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You can have the instant ink if you want, but I don't want it either, so there are ink cartiridges included. I don't know how much ink is in the cartridge, so I bought an extra black cartridge
