• Extra length but more importantly a plug for the mic and the headphones. Plug these into a sound card or just into the jacks in your device. From there you can separate the mic volume (or set to listen to) and headset volume in various ways.

• Negative. The 2nd cable allows you to use it with a PC. Most computers have separate mic / headphone ports, thus the 3.5mm cable needs to be split to properly function with a computer. The "Y" adapter makes this possible.

• The second cable splits for PC use one end goes into the headset port and the other goes into the mic port.

• It’s for pc. Some outputs are mic and audio in one. Other people have computers where one output is only audio and one output is only for microphone. That cable is used for the computers that have separate audio and mic holes.
