There are a number of reasons this could be the outcome. Let me start with the most likelly. 1. Your cable between the video card and the monitor won't support the resolution being used. 2. The motherboard isn't reading your max monitor settings correctly and it's attempting to overdrive it. 3. You may not be using the best type of connection. Use either the USB-C or DisplayPort connection to the RTX2080 video card.
