“Need to hook up 2 monitors but it seems that the dvi, vga and hdmi located by the usb's aren't recognizing my monitors. Only the 1 hdmi on the graphics card itself is seeing my monitor. Are the other ports useless?? And what exactly is a "display port"?”

You can get a monitor to display cable it will resolve problems.
