Q: QuestionI have 2 sets of these for lighting in a safe. Is there a way I can put a motion detector sensor in line and have them automatically come on when the door is opened?

• A:Answer To correctly answer your question, yes it's possible to make these motion activated, however you will need to "get your hands dirty", and also void your warranty (unless you 'go the extra mile', or find a motion sensor with a USB output). To get this to work, you would connect a motion sensor to a relay, and have the relay fire the lights, cutting the plug off in order to connect it to the relay. Going the extra mile would be integrating a USB port onto the output of the relay, at which point you should certainly be looking at putting it onto a circuit board. An alternative method to solve your problem which would be much easier if you can get it to work on your safe door... Utilise the door as a mechanical breaker switch for the power source (DC ONLY! DO NOT USE AC POWER!), which when closed leaves the circuit open (and the power disconnected), and when opened closes the circuit allowing the power to flow. I hope this answers your question and helps you to find a solution.

• A:Answer No. I would not use it on a deck. It isn’t waterproof. Also, the light it puts out is quite low. You likely wouldn’t benefit from its light strength. It barely brightens the the small area on my desk.

Q: QuestionI’m buying these for my daughter’s room, she has been asking for these for a while. Is there a good way to attach them to the wall without having the cord hanging down? If I cut them to fit the length of the wall how will they still work correctly?

• A:Answer If you have outlets on the wall then the cord will need to run up to the ceiling. You can use the mounting tape and screws on the IR remote receiver to mount it to the wall then run the LED power cables/connectors up towards the ceiling. As for cutting, any parts that you cutoff won't work unless they are attached to the existing lights. I wouldn't recommend cutting any LED lights unless you have gone the entire length of all four walls. Then you can cutoff the excess that you will never use.
