“Is there any reason why the audio from the tv won't play through my speakers? The RCA cables are connected correctly and the speakers work when another device is connected to the unit so it isn't the speaker wiring itself.”

I believe it is because it does not have a TV tuner in the receiver. If you look at the remote it has FM,AM, and CD. it also has 3 AUX ports. You can try connecting the speaker wires into one of the AUX ports and then select which port you have the speakers connected to then see if the TV speakers work.
