Two remotes?? Only one speaker is powered and can react to the remote. The other is called passive and is connected by wire to the powered (also called active). The remote controls them as stereo pair and treble and tone can be adjusted from the side of the unit that you plug in. Should be in front of speaker clear path maybe ten to twelve feet away and good to go
