Next to....hard to determine "next to". It requires connection to the outside to exhaust the warm air from the room, so the hose has to run to the outside. As long as the hose reaches the window acting as its exhaust point, it will work.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it must be vented through a window in order for the heated air from the inside of the unit to escape properly. If not vented to the outdoors, heated air from the back of the unit will be blown into your room and your space will not cool down.
