• I’m a HVAC Servive tech. Usually that smell comes from sitting water from the unit condensating you might want to clean it out. If the issue still continues they sell bacterial spray for the coils to kill any mold or bacteria an order that builds up due to the sitting water.

• Probably a returned unit that was previously used and condensation sat in the evaporator plate and has developed a foul odor. If it is within the return window I'd take it back!!!!
