• Yes, that's what these things do! You do have to "program" it with the correct "code" for the device you're controlling. I use it to control the TV and the amplifier. All electronic devices, TV's, amps, tape decks, CD players, etc. have a 4 digit code. The universal remote comes with a list of these codes for many models of the above. The included instructions tell you how to choose the codes for your devices. It's pretty simple. This particular remote can program 8 separate devices.
