• The Clock radio requires AC power. It has a battery backup to save your settings in case of a power loss, but you can not use the radio or clock without plugging it in

• It does plug in, however, it also has batteries so you can use it that way.

• It runs on battery and it can be plugged in outlet. It is a good alarm it wakes me up either plug or battery.
