Unplug the machine: Before starting, disconnect the power to the ice maker. Remove the ice basket: Take out the ice basket to allow for easier access to the interior. Clean the interior: Use a soft cloth and a diluted detergent solution (warm water and a few drops of dish soap) to wipe the inside of the ice maker. You can also use a mixture of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, especially if you notice mineral deposits or a musty smell. Rinse and drain: Use clean water to thoroughly rinse the inside of the ice maker, making sure to remove all detergent or vinegar solution. Unplug the drain cap (usually located on the bottom front of the machine) to drain all the water. Dry the interior: Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe down the interior and ensure it's completely dry. Clean the ice basket: Wash the ice basket with soap and water, ensuring it's rinsed and dry before replacing it. Long-term storage: If you plan to store the ice maker for an extended period, make sure it's completely dry, including the interior and the ice basket.

To clean the Insignia™ Portable Ice Maker with Auto Shut-Off – Mint, you should avoid taking it apart or using harsh chemicals like Clorox bleach. Instead, start by unplugging the unit from the wall outlet. Remove the ice basket and use a soft cloth or sponge with a mild detergent mixed with warm water to gently wipe down the interior surfaces. After cleaning, rinse the inside thoroughly with clean water to remove any soap residue. You can then drain the water using the drain cap located at the bottom front of the unit. Dry the interior with a clean cloth or let it air dry completely before using it again. For a deeper clean, you can use a solution of white vinegar and water, letting it sit for about 15 minutes before rinsing thoroughly. It’s important not to submerge the unit in water or attempt to disassemble the back, as this could damage the appliance or void the warranty. Keith | Insignia Support
