Wow! I really LOVE this ice maker! It is simple to use, not very noisy and such a great thing to have! The ice can be small or large bullet shape with the small indent on one end. The ice is dense and lasts a long time in drinks. I bought a plastic ice bin from a local store and can make enough ice to fill it in no time. It shuts off on it's own when full, so even if you walk away or forget about it, no mess! If the ice you made melts, the water go through the collection tray and goes back into the water supply. There is a plug on the bottom to empty it if needed. It comes with a removable ice bin, a plastic scoop and paper instructions. Helpful Hint: if you find that your jce sticks together after being in the freezer- I use the handle end of a mixer beater and it breaks apart the ice nicely without damaging the ice shape. The photo shows the plastic ice bin I bought at a local store for 97 cents. Great value, great quality, convenient size for storage and use, must have for summer. Makes ice in less than half the time of a fridge icemaker.

This ice maker has mostly been great and I 100% recommend it (but also get the $20ish extended service warranty thing because we’ve used it once and getting a brand new replacement was too easy)! We mostly use it RVing and while I always thought it was a needless purchase it’s been a game changer! My dislikes are that it’s a royal pain to clean the insides (rarely needed), it is a bit noisy, the basket design causes the ice to dam up and stop making before it’s actually full, and there’s no discernible difference between the Large and Small ice cube sizes (somewhat common among ice makers). Also it would’ve been nice for them to add a hanger on the left side for the ice scoop (we added a command strip hook). We only use filtered water in it (ZeroWater or WaterDrop pitcher) which will definitely extend its life! Obviously keep it away from sources of heat and give it a decent clearance around the vents on the back and right hand side. If this one breaks outside of the warranty period I imagine we’ll buy another identical one!

I got this on a decent sale, after looking around at different options for ice machines, and went with this one because of the reviews and the reasonable price. This really does make ice quickly with very minimal effort. You fill the unit with water, and it makes about 9 cubes in just under 10 minutes. One thing that it lacks is the ability to keep the ice cold; you'll need to transfer it to the freezer to keep it ice cold, but it does recycle any water that melts and reuses it to make more ice. The buttons on the unit are easy to use understand and overall the unit does not take up a lot of space in my smaller space. I have it conveniently located on top of my bottom loading water dispenser, ready to go at all points in time. I made a bunch of ice when I first got it (it does have that classic factory plastic smell, so cleaning it out with vinegar and using the machine with just plain tap water several times helped clear out the smell), and when I need to make more as needed, it starts right up like when I first plugged it in.

Wanted a back-up ice source for entertaining and at the price this seemed to be a good choice. It makes ice quickly and is not too noisy. The ice must be put in the freezer immediately if you plan on using it later, there is no temp control in the bin. The size in compact, easy to store.

I purchased the Insignia Portable Ice Maker as a solution to my broken fridge water line, and it has exceeded all my expectations. I picked up this ice maker after casually keeping my eye out for one that had good reviews, and a decent price. I live in an apartment and do not have an ice maker on my fridge, which means I had been filling up ice trays for the last 5 years. I had been always looking for something like this, as it can be tedious doing that every day, and making sure there was ice. It is so much more convenient using this! All you do is add water, and the ice maker does the rest! It has saved me time, and has ensured that if I ever ran out, that I could have ice made in a matter of minutes. Owning this ice machine has been almost a complete win, but do have a few minor cons. The first, is that the machine itself does not keep the ice frozen after it's made, which is kind of an inconvenience. This means, that after the ice is made, you must transfer it to a container or bag in the freezer, otherwise itll just melt back into water. It's not the end of the world, but it is worth noting, since you will have to do some work. The other con is a direct result of the first con in that, once you put ice into the freezer, it tends to stick together, making it difficult to scoop pieces. I have to resort to using a knife to break it back up, which works ok, but ends up sending some ice pieces flying and landing on the ground. This con is the biggest one for me, as I cant just go to my freezer and put some ice in a cup. It's a bit of a process, and a little annoying. With that being said, I am still mostly happy with my purchase, which is mostly why I gave it 5 stars. It has been very reliable, and has not broken down, or stopped working in any way since I purchased it. I simply add water , and it makes the ice without fail. Time will tell if it remains that way, but as of now, I can say that it is very depending, mechanically. With that

Very soft ice!!! Wonderful if you like chewing ice, just don’t tell my dentist! Ha! This is the second one I purchased and it is going to my dad for Christmas. He liked the ice more than any other “soft” ice he has ever tried (and he chews a lot of ice). It also makes ice super fast. I purchased both of them on sale and added in the 4 year protection plan. It’s a breeze to make ice in it. I also use my filtered refrigerator water in it.

I’ve had several different brand ice-makers in the past, and this one is by far my FAVORITE. Most importantly, it is not loud whatsoever. The only time we hear it is when the ice is dumping into the ice tray. The ice stays frozen for a long time, and only melts when it’s been sitting in the tray for 3-5 plus hours. This is the first brand I’ve owned that doesn’t get mold in the back where the cubes are made after a few weeks. I’ve had this ice maker since early December and it’s mid February, and like I said that’s yet to occur (THANK GOD) I never knew BestBuy had their own line of house hold appliance products until I came across this ice maker, and I’ll never use any other brand from now on. I actually went the following day and bought the microwave made by BestBuy after experiencing the quality of this ice maker. I have attached pictures for size reference. If you’re thinking about getting it, just do it! You will not regret it!

I never thought or knew about having a "portable" ice maker until my wife mentioned it. After much research and website scouring I found this one. Highly rated and for a very good reason. This ice maker produces the first batch after turn on in about 8 minutes. Enough ice for a tall glass of tea...Wow, ice that fast I couldn't believe it! Extremely satisfied Wirth this product and highly recommended. Super easy to operate, I recommend reading the instructions first... Be sure to clean before use, run several cycles (I ran about 8 cube dumps), then Enjoy!

This was an excellent buy at the price. The ice is in two sizes. Neither too small or too large. A bit noisy but not out of bounds noisy. You have to empty it fairly quickly or melt sets in. It does make a batch fairly quickly and is efficient. It does not take up too much room. Easy set up and cleaning.

PROS: Great price, does not take up much counter space, effective and fast at making ice. I can imagine this is great for an outdoor BBQ or POKER PARTY. CONS: 1st thing I noticed was there is NO chilled compartment for the ice once it has fallen into the catch basket. This meant all of the cubes were coming out small. However I discovered an easy WORKAROUND which KEEPS ICE BIG and that is to remove the catch basket and allow the first two cycles of ice to fall into the water. This will keep the water in the repository chilled and the machine will now continue to produce large-sized ice. ---- Also, I've found filling up and storing 1-gallon, freezer Zip Locks full of the large ice is a great way to always have a bag available for sports injuries, daily drinking, and cooking needs!

Love the color. Ice machine works well. Very satisfied. Not to bulky either! I bought the mint.

This ice machine is a little beast. I don’t have a dishwasher or ice maker in my apartment, so this purchase was a must. It makes ice relatively fast, and it’s solid enough to not immediately disintegrate in my drink. My only complaint is that I have to drain any old water before each use, or else it will taste like the plastic in the machine. Overall, great purchase and it doesn’t take up too much space on the counter.

I bought this to use at the Burningman festival in the Nevada desert. Out there I only have solar panels with 2 100 amp batteries driving a 2000 watt pure sign wave inverter. I tested this ice maker at home and it produced ice every few minutes. When I got to the Playa the temp inside my trailer was 95 degrees and I figured this unit wouldn’t work well. To my surprise it worked every well. I poured a half gallon of water in it and let it do its thing for a few hours. When I checked back on it there was a full hopper of ice. I emptied it into ziplock bags and let it run. I ended up with four ziplock bags of ice. Enough to fill up my rv refrigerator. It’s a great little device.

I usually don’t like Insignia products but i do really like this ice cube maker, It doesn’t take that long to get you ice cubes, i would say about an hour or less to get a bag full of ice cubes. Very impress with this product and it’s still running strong!

This ice maker was the PERFECT gift for my mom!!! She likes how soft the ice is considering she cracked her tooth on the ice that came out of our refrigerator ice maker. It is small enough to fit upstairs so she doesn’t have to go back and forth downstairs to get ice. I just love that for her. Also, it takes minutes to get the ice so it is always some ice available. She just loves it. She says it makes her water “juicier.” Idk how that is possible but anyway, it works, it’s simple, and is well made for a countertop. Thanks Best Buy! Good job! Great asset to any party. We like to host parties, which means lots of drinks. This little ice maker is up to any task. Ice is made super quick and ice size is perfect. It takes up very little room on our bar and is extremely quiet. From drinks to ice snacks for four dogs this ice maker never dissapoints.

I was looking for one for a long time and honestly got overwhelmed by the many different ones and the reviews were all over the place. So I finally just went for it and chose this one. Couldn’t be happier with it. We needed for our RV for a road trip. It’s the perfect choice for us. So many reviews complained about the amount it makes and the speed. You just have to remember it’s a counter ice maker. I turn it on first think in the morning and by the time I need to fill my glass, it’s full. I leave it on the rest of the day (if we are not moving), and I have ice all day when I need it as long as I add water. If we are traveling, I leave on until I’m ready to go to bed and put all it’s made in a bag in the freezer for the morning. Soooo happy with it and today recommend.

Works as advertised but you should know that this icemaker does not store ice very well if it makes ice it will melt in the container and then drip into the water reservoir where it will make more ice which is fine if you want to endlessly make ice with the same water but if you want to have a large stash of ice somewhere you will need to move it to the freezer that being said the freezer will make this a stick together because this ice is a little bit wet and when you put it in the freezer it will stick together

My refrigerator ice maker died a few times and we gave up trying to fix it. I have been without an ice maker for over a year. Making ice cubes in trays really puts the kibosh on wanting to use ice. For Mother's Day I decided that I wanted an ice maker. This is the one I decided on. So far it has been great. I put three cups of water in, and it makes nine ice cubes at a time. It probably takes about two hours to use up most of the water. Towards the end, when the water is almost gone, the ice cubes start to look the size of sliced olives. If you don't take the ice out as it makes it, it could start melting as there's no way for the machine to freeze it in there. Also if you don't take the ice out, it could stop making ice because there's a point where it stops making ice if it is too full. When the machine is finished with a batch of cubes, I use the little scoop that came with the machine to put them into a silicone measuring cup I already had. Then I dump the ice into the place in my freezer where they are supposed to have been made by my freezer ice maker. Sigh. I can use the ice dispenser in my refrigerator this way. That's why I use three cups of water. For our average use for three of us who actually use the ice, that's enough for a few days. I learned that you don't want to make too much because the ice freezes together and it doesn't break up that easily. Once it has made all the cubes it can with the water I supplied, I turn it off and wait a bit until whatever ice it's trying to make melts again. Then I unplug it and take it to the sink to drain it. There's a little drain plug on the bottom right corner for easy draining. This machine is making me happy because I can have cold beverages again!
