Best Buy recommended this USB+one other and they do not work on my iMAC 24 to transfer photos from cell phone to computer.

However, it does not mention DisplayPort Alt Mode or Power Delivery but it does say it support Samsung DeX capabilities. So, it's possible the USB Type-C may support Plug n Play devices. Please refer to the manufacturer of your hardware for more information on your device. Thank you.
