• No, you don't have to use the app. I had them paired to 2 phones but only installed the app on one so that I could configure them. Any config changes you make are loaded to the buds and will carry over should you have them connected to a second device. If you use one device and choose not to use the app you will not have access to some of the deeper configuration choices.
