Well it depends what you are trying to do. If you bought it to resell it on a site such as ebay I would put a small dot on it somewhere on the back with a permanent market, take a picture of it before shipping then when the buyer claims it's defective (maybe he's trying to return one to you other than the one you sold him) you will have proof when you receive it back if it really is your speaker. If you are trying to return it to the store you need to keep the original retail packaging so they can scan it. Does this help?

Baring those two possibilities, call customer service and see if they can help. One other possibility is that the speaker my have a barcode on it. Maybe the barcode will help identify a specific speaker.
