As you use the Kcup side, for whatever reason it puts a small amount of water in your carafe basket. So now when you use your carafe, it already has water in it and causes the over flow. I have to periodically pour out the water that has accumulated in the basket during Kcup use. But this model is worth that one little flaw. Love it!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Ensure that you have the insert properly installed in the carafe itself. There is a bump on the top of the insert in the carafe that opens the valve that will let the water go from the coffee basket down into the carafe itself. If the insert is not in the carafe, the valve will not open.
