• Any metal that looks stainless steel is the top grates that are black are cast iron.

• It is stainless steel. It cleans very nicely. I bought Weimar s.s. Cleaner and polish. It is a spray. I also bought Weimar s.s. Wipes. Theese work on big spills. I love the stove. It looks beautiful. Looks likes hardly use it. But I do. I have not used the griddle yet. I think it would splatter grease.
