“Does this range require a recess in the wall behind it in order to sit flush against the wall? I've seen a couple reviews where there's about a 2" gap between the wall and the range. Please advise. We are doing a full remodel.”

The plug itself is really big. There is open space at the bottom of the range for it and the gas line but I think you are better off recessing in the center. I did that and it fits great with no spacing issues.
