“I want to purchase this to just use tablet on treadmill to watch videos in landscape mode. If the videos are in 1920 x 1080 resolution, will they still display full screen in hd or will there be "bars" across the top and bottom?”

Not positive but if the video shows bars, install the app VLC and you then change the screen to your liking such as fill screen.
