I'm guessing you need to tell your laptop that you connected a second monitro. Press the windows key and P together then select "extend"

You can do this by clicking on the magnifying glass on the bottom left of your Windows 10 screen. Type "external monitor" in the search window. Select "Change settings for multiple displays" and follow the instructions for setting up an external monitor.
