It is more about aesthetics and since the Soundbar has a width of 35.1", aesthetically, it matches up better with TVs with screen sizes of 40" and above. The Soundbar supports Bluetooth, so if your TV supports Bluetooth, you can pair the Soundbar with the TV and stream audio wirelessly via Bluetooth. The Soundbar also has an Optical Digital Audio In, so if your TV has an Optical Digital Audio Out, you can connect it to the Soundbar that way too...^IFV "
