“Is there an app I can download to change the speaker's settings? The function doesn't change when I click it on the remote–the sound is the exact same. And the subwoofer is so loud that I can't hear people talk. Thus far I wouldn't recommend this speaker.”

No app that I'm aware of. I'm no technical genius, just followed the instructions provided. You can just the subwoofer volume, the type of audio, and additional satellite speakers if so connected.
