“I have connected this soundbar to an Insignia NS-40D420NA18 TV but can not get the volume to be controlled with the TV remote. Using the “TV remote” function via pressing and holding sound effect does nothing. Do I have a defective LG soundbar?”

Regrettably, the remote control for your Insignia NS-40D420NA18 is probably not a TV remote that can be programmed to control some of the functions on the LG SL4Y 2.1 Channel 300W Sound Bar w/ Bluetooth Streaming. Not all TV remotes support this function. The Soundbar is not defective...^IFV
