• As long as the TV has an optical output it will work.

• The LG - 2.1-Channel Soundbar System with Wireless Subwoofer and Digital Amplifier - Black, Model # SH3K has an Optical Digital Audio Input and a Portable (3.5mm) Input on it that can be used to connect it to compatible devices via those ports. The 42LH40-4A has an Optical Digital Audio Output on it that you can connect to the Soundbar using an Optical Digital (Toslink) cable. You may have to go into the sound settings in the TV 's menu to specify the audio output path to get the TV to output to the SoundBar or simply turn the TV's speakers off through it's audio settings in its' menu...^IFV
