“the fridge is not cold enough, and only the bottom shelf of the freezer and door stay frozen the fridge is at 50 degrees and I have had food spoil. I turn both the fridge and freezer to the highest settings and its the same temp in the fridge.”

I would request a service call from LG at www.lg.com because there are lots of possible causes (see page 28 of your user manual).
